January 14th, 2019 | Design
The most exciting time of year for lovers of perfection, art and history is here. The Winter Show is the most prestigious art, antiques and design fair in the country. It opens on January 18 and will run through January 27, 2019 at the Park Avenue Armory.
Founded in 1954, The Winter Show draws art and objects from a variety of disciplines. It’s comprised of a selection of exhibitors who are experts on their fields. The collections are visually appealing as they can range from antiques that are hundreds of years old to contemporary glass sculptures. Plus, at The Winter Show, exhibitors are free to showcase their work in any way they seem fit. As a result, walking through its aisles is like being in a top art museum surrounded by artwork that you can take home — if you can afford it!
Even if your pockets aren’t that deep, you’ll be happy to know that all proceeds go to East Side House Settlement, a charity that provides opportunities for disadvantaged families in South Bronx and Northern Manhattan.
If you want to channel your inner Robert Langdon, go to the Connoisseurs Night on January 25. Entrance is included in the daily admission ticket. Think of it as an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals in booth talks, wine tastings and deep conversations about art and antiques.
